IDRIS ELBA: PRODUCING NBC LAW DRAMA
I love Idris and for that reason I will at least try and give this show a couple of views to see if it hooks me in! I know we are supposed to support, but I am getting kind of tired of the law, cop and medical dramas that seem to be what the digital boob tube has to offer. I have slowed down watching House MD for this very reason - it all seems to be the same.. *sigh* anywho - I will watch it and I hope it's good, so that NBC will continue putting more chocolate faces on it's main shows!

AVATAR: NEW TRAILER DROPS TODAY
I saw a brief teaser for this movie three months or so ago while visiting one of my favorite Saturday afternoon spots - the $1.50 movie. I wasn't sure what it was about because the teaser really didn't show much, or maybe I was too busy talking..iono lol. Anyways I decided to go home and look it up and WOW...I'm saying this looks like it will be a HOT movie - I hope I am not disappointed! Ok so I am a little bit of a nerd and a sci-fi nut, don't judge me! The movie thus far from what I seen appears to be one that will be a good one...we shall see! oh and it's supposed to be 3-D woo hoo!

CONCERT: JAY-Z IN COLUMBUS, OHIO
On October 28, 2009 the highly anticipated Jay-z concert was welcomed with open arms. It was an overwhelming concert especially after speculation that he wasn't going to make it since he was suppose to be the opening act in Game 1 of the World Series. The concert was phenomenal! Young Simba, J.Cole was the opening act, then Walé graced the stage bringing the DMV (D.C., Maryland, Virginia) love. N.E.R.D definitely spazzed out and Jay-Z gave us joints from Reasonable Doubt to Blueprint 3 accompanied by Memphis Bleek. All the artist did a great job including our city in their lyrics and making references to being a Buckeye. The main feeling that I left with from the concert was INSPIRATION! Jay-Z performed "Empire State of Mind" with the city of Columbus on the jumbotron behind him. He also performed "So Ambitious" with Pharrell. His main message was to always go after your dreams and I know the audience was embracing it. This was one of the greatest concerts and here are a couple pictures of the experience.

Opening act of course was Jay-Z and in my mind I'm thinking this is going to be a good show. BET might have read all my constructive feedback emails and letters written in blood and tears. I think to myself 'Man my state representative heard my pleas'. I think 'Thanks Al Sharpton'! I give big ups to Dr. Michael Eric Dyson and raise my head to the sky and thank the Lord for not allowing the mess to continue. Then I wake up from my dream and realize this nightmare is not over. SMH
On a much brighter note I will be seeing Jay-Z, N.E.R.D, J. Cole and Walé tomorrow in concert :)

OK now I'm going to the Jay-Z concert in Columbus, Ohio on October 28, 2009 and it starts at 7:30PM. The World Series Game 1 start at 7:57PM. Now he has some heavy hitter opening acts but is it enough time for him to hop a plane from NY to OH. Last time I took a flight to NY it took about 1 hour so it maybe it can be done. Jigga I expect to see you on 10/28/09 man!

One of the many attributes I simply adore about Spike Lee is how outspoken he is. We all have that right and he is very assertive in knowing that power he possesses. I've only watched a couple episodes of House of Payne and have not seen Meet the Browns however from what I've seen I would have to disagree with Spike Lee. The very foundation, I gathered, from House of Payne is FAMILY. How family interact during trials and tribulations. Now there are moments when it's a little over the top but "coonery and buffoonery" isn't what comes to mind. There are serious issues troubling our demographic. I understand that we must make people aware of what we take in and media is one of the largest consumption but Tyler Perry offers that laughter at the end of the day. That moment to reflect on the power of God, family, and relationships. Tell me what you think BLAKstar family...

BREAST CANCER PETITION
The Bipartisan Breast Cancer Patient Protection Act Needs Your Support!
Representatives Rosa DeLauro (D-Connecticut) and Joe Barton (R-Texas) and Senators Mary Landrieu (D-Louisiana) and Olympia Snowe (R-Maine) recently re-introduced the bipartisan Breast Cancer Patient Protection Act in Congress. Lifetime Advocacy & Public Affairs has supported the act for 13 years, since it was originally introduced to Congress by Rep. DeLauro in 1996, and continues to advocate for its passage. Marcia Cross and Jewel have publicly advocated for the bill's passage on behalf of Lifetime. Thanks to its viewers, Lifetime has so far collected over 24 million online petition signatures urging Congress to pass this critical legislation, which would end the practice of so-called "drive-through" mastectomies when women are forced out of the hospital only hours after invasive breast cancer surgery.
