ALL HAIL THE PIMP ROYALTY: NJ PIMP "PRINCE" SENTENCED

This story was brought to my attention recently because of the hilarious nature of the photos that were in the article. I was so busy laughing and asking "God why?" that it took me a good 10 minutes before I even read the article. I am sure that you are laughing too and have probably sent the link to a few friends, posted it on your facebook or blog and shared a few "Girl that's a mess, you see that" statements with your friends. What disturbed me about this piece of news was more than the photograph (I know bad right?).

The man in the photo is Allen E. Brown aka Prince a New Jersey pimp who was recently arrested and convicted on a laundry list of charges for human trafficking, prostitution, racketeering etc etc. Not only was he arrested but many of his family members were said to be in on the business too, including his mother Tecora Brown.  Ok wait, his mother? Yes his mother. [Insert SMH here] That makes me sad to no end! What if they had opened a legitimate legal family business, taking all their combined power, influence and opened something that the community could have been proud of? What could they have accomplished? I am sure there are many who will say it's all apart of the ghetto mentality and it speaks on a plethora of social and economic issues that face our world today - but that's a whole other blog for another day. I am happy that he did get sentenced and will be locked away for a long time, but will his mentality change? Will his conviction change the minds of the people, family and friends who worked with and for him change? Will they see why what they were doing was wrong? I can only hope and pray so.

DENNIS HOPPER PASSES AT 74

Dennis Lee Hopper (May 17, 1936 – May 29, 2010)

Dennis Hopper, the director, star and co-writer of "Easy Rider" and an edgy actor in numerous other films, has died at age 74 after a lengthy illness, his production company Easy Rider Productions confirmed.

CHILD STAR GARY COLEMAN DIES AT AGE 42

We are saddened to hear of the loss of Gary Coleman famous child actor who played Arnold on the TV sitcom A Different Strokes in the 1980's. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his loved ones, friends and fans.


Gary Coleman, who by age 11 had skyrocketed to become TV's brightest star but as an adult could never quite land on solid footing, has died after suffering a brain hemorrhage. He was 42. Coleman died at 12:05 p.m. at the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo, Utah, where he had been in a coma.

"Family members and close friends were at his side when life support was terminated," says a hospital statement. "Family members express their appreciation and gratitude for the support and prayers that have been expressed for Gary and for them."

 Our prayers are with her family, friends and fans. Ms. Horne was in a class all by herself and blazed a trail in Hollywood for many to come after her. She opened doors that still may be closed today had she never been bold enough to knock them down. Her intelligence, talent and elegance will remain a classic example of a leading lady. Our hearts go out to those who truly loved her. She inspired so many!

Lena Horne, who was the first black performer to be signed to a long-term contract by a major Hollywood studio and who went on to achieve international fame as a singer, died on Sunday night at New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York. She was 92 and lived in Manhattan.
