POSSIBLE CHANGES FOR AZ'S ANTI-IMMIGRATION LAW
I must confess I do not know the ins and outs to this controversial Arizona immigration law that is a hot button topic all over the country right now. I do know from the many facebook posts, blogs and news reports I have encountered the part that seems to be causing the problem is requires law enforcement to detain anyone they feel could be an illegal immigrant. FOR REAL? In this country of ours, this melting pot of all the world's ethnicities and cultures, who and what does an illegal immigrant look or talk like? Do you have special government issued glasses that can sense an illegal immigrant by their body heat? Ok I am playing (or am I?), but this just sounds like a bad idea and can and I am sure will lead to racial profiling. I am afraid this would be used wrongly by some law enforcers to detain people who otherwise wouldn't be detained. This just sounds a little like Jim Crow 2010 to me. Maybe I am wrong. I understand in the state of Arizona that illegal immigration is a problem but detaining people who may or may not be in the U.S. legally I do not believe is the answer. I am sure this will play out for sometime, let's hope they come up with a better answer to their immigration dilemma then the one that's currently on the table.
