Something Different

I already know what you are thinking...I have not lost my mind. What you will soon learn about me is I go against the grain. I like all kinds of things especially music. I get new music all the time and came across this group Major Lazer. Read up on them before you dismiss them...trust me if you love dancehall you'll appreciate these two white boys from the UK. Promise me you'll give it a chance! Mea I know you will give them a chance!

Wesley (Diplo) Pentz and Dave (Switch) Taylor received Grammy nominations last year for their work on M.I.A.’s “Paper Planes,” the hit collage based on the Clash’s “Straight to Hell.” They now work as a team called Major Lazer, whose primary source material is dancehall. Their début album, “Guns Don’t Kill People . . . Lazers Do,” uses bona-fide dancehall vocalists like Mr. Lex and Busy Signal, and some songs even sound like vintage reggae from the eighties. But then there are the left turns that set the genre on its ear: the bass line from Black Flag’s “Six Pack,” the sound of a crying baby, run through the warble of Auto-Tune software. Make your own decision about the purported leader of the team. According to Mad Decent, the record label, Major Lazer is a Jamaican commando who fought in the “secret Zombie War of 1984” and lost both arms in combat. Then the U.S. military equipped him with experimental lasers that double as prosthetic limbs.
