LIL WAYNE SAYS FAREWELL

Lil Wayne performed for his hometown fans on Monday for what he is titling his Farewell Tour. He told his fans last night "I am nothing without you". The 27 year old Grammy award winning rapper Lil Wayne - born Dwayne Carter, plead guilty back in the fall to a weapons possession charge and will be sentenced on February 9, 2010. He did enter into a plea bargain that calls for him to do one year. Sadly this seems to be a ongoing trend within the rap community. Lil Wayne joins the likes of T.I., Lil Kim and many others who are or had to face real jail time. I am not sure what is going on in the community but something has got to give. It's not a good look on our HipHop culture. HipHop is supposed to be much more than guns, bullets, carrying weapons, drugs and jail time. I and most HipHop heads know this but that is not what the world is beginning to see. I know I may get into some trouble with our Lil Weezy fans, but I hope he does the year, that's the only way it's going to sink in..and do the year without all the comfy cushions of the country club style jails. *shrug*

MOVIE NEWS: AVATAR UPDATE

I know, I know we have been on this Avatar kick for some time, but if you have not seen this movie...TRUST ME, you will want to and need to go see it. Shené has seen it twice, and I have seen it once this past weekend (I am going back later this week to see it again). I also suggest while this movie is GREAT either regular or in 3D, I  will say see it in 3D. The colors, the scenes and the overall feel of the movie is amplified when it is in 3D. It's a good plot and story line and spectacular special effects that seem real and not overdone. Bravo to James Cameron and his whole crew and all the actors. I want to talk more about this movie, but I am thinking that we need to save that for a video blog...but in case you don't want to just take my word for it Avatar is killing everyone at the box office. It has earned $77.4 million the first weekend it was opened and dropped slightly to $75.6 million this past weekend (the second weekend it has been in theaters). In the first ten days of it's release it has brought in a whopping $212.7 million for 20th Century Fox...someone is laughing all the way to the bank. While it was a very big budget movie, I am sure that with the continued success that the first two weekends at the box office suggest the movie will have, Avatar will be a top grossing box office baby hitting the motion picture history books very soon.

TYRA CALLS IT QUITS

Yesterday Ms. Banks said she was ending her talk show "The Tyra Show" after the end of the fifth season. Tyra told her fans: " I've been loving having fun, coming into your living rooms, bedrooms, hair salons for the past five years." She said that she will be keeping her America's Next Top Model (as if she could leave us hanging now lol) and is forming a production studio that has plans to get into the movie industry. There are some other digital projects that she has said she is working on but has yet to name or giving any details. Well Miss Tyra, we are proud of you and all your accomplishments. We are sure that whatever it is you are doing we will continue to see you out front doing what you do best and passing the knowledge on!

Tyler Perry's mother, Willie Maxine Perry has died after a long illness at the age of 64.

Willie—the inspiration for Madea, the outspoken family matriarch played by Perry who's shown up in seven of his family-friendly movies—passed away last night, according to a brief statement on her son's website.

"Thank you for all your prayers," the message reads. He did not disclose the cause of death or where she died.

Perry attended the Nov. 1 premiere of the Sundance darling Precious, which he coproduced with Oprah Winfrey, before going on self-imposed hiatus.

Bus Accident: Weezer's tour canceled

After the tour bus hit ice and crashed in New York, injuring lead singer Rivers Cuomo and a band assistant, the group decided to cancel the final leg of their December tour.

Cuomo's condition is not clear and the bands publicist will make no comment.

The tour cancelation was announced on the band's website, also adding that they hope to reschedule the dates.

No further information is known.
