The King of Pop Michael Jackson Dies
It is with great sadness for BLAKstar to report the death of Michael Jackson. He was the most successful and influential performer of our time. Entertainer Michael Jackson died after being taken to a hospital on Thursday having suffered cardiac arrest, the Los Angeles County coroner's office said. He was 50.
Paramedics took Jackson from his west Los Angeles home Thursday afternoon to UCLA Medical Center, where a team of physicians attempted to resuscitate him for more than an hour, said his brother Jermaine Jackson. He said the famed singer was pronounced dead at 2:26 p.m. PT.
An autopsy is scheduled Friday, Jermaine Jackson said. Results are expected Friday afternoon, according to Lt. Fred Corral of the Los Angeles coroner's office, who added that Jackson was unresponsive when he arrived at the hospital.
Fire Capt. Steve Ruda told CNN paramedics were sent to a west Los Angeles, California, residence after a 911 call came in at 12:21 p.m.
Law enforcement officials said the Los Angeles Police Department robbery-homicide department opened an investigation into Jackson's death. They stressed there is no evidence of criminal wrongdoing. Still, officials said they would conduct interviews with family members and friends.
During his nearly half-century career, Jackson recorded a series of pop classics as part of the Jackson 5 and then became a massive solo star. His 1982 album Thriller has been certified platinum 28 times in the U.S. and is the best-selling original collection ever released.
Jackson was born in Gary, Ind., on Aug. 29, 1958, and by the age of 6 the prodigiously talented singer and dancer was performing alongside his brothers. The Jackson 5 signed to Motown in 1968 and released a string of huge hits including “ABC” and “I Want You Back.” Jackson entered the charts as a solo artist in 1972 with the song “Ben,” and in 1978 he appeared in the big screen musical The Wiz alongside Diana Ross. The following year, his album Off The Wall established Jackson as a solo superstar. Yet, even the success of that release would be dwarfed by Thriller, which included a raft of global smashes, including “Billie Jean,” “Beat It,” and “Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’.”
Jackson followed up Thriller with 1987’s Bad, which itself eventually sold in the region of 30 million copies worldwide. But the star’s public profile was badly damaged in the '90s when he was accused of child sex abuse, and in recent years he had become an extremely reclusive figure. Despite his reputation as one of pop’s greatest dancers and all-round in-concert showman, he also effectively abandoned touring. However, Jackson had planned to play a series of dates in London, starting next month.
While his personal life often attracted criticism and controversy, the oft-dubbed King of Pop’s influence on the musical realm is unarguable. That influence was demonstrated in 2008 when Kanye West, will.i.am, Fergie, and Akon all contributed to the remixes featured on the 25th anniversary reissue of Thriller. In his long career Jackson also worked with some of pop’s most talented artists, including both Paul McCartney and Thriller producer Quincy Jones.
Actress Farrah Fawcett dies at 62
Fawcett, 62, died Thursday morning at St. John's Health Center in Santa Monica, nearly three years after being diagnosed with anal cancer. Ryan O'Neal, the longtime companion who returned to her side when she became ill, was with her.
"After a long and brave battle with cancer, our beloved Farrah has passed away," O'Neal said. "Although this is an extremely difficult time for her family and friends, we take comfort in the beautiful times that we shared with Farrah over the years and the knowledge that her life brought joy to so many people around the world."
In the end, Fawcett sought to offer more than that, re-emerging in the spotlight with a new gravitas.
In "Farrah's Story," which aired last month, she made public her painful treatments and dispiriting setbacks — from shaving her golden locks before chemotherapy could claim them to undergoing experimental treatments in Germany.
"Her big message to people is don't give up. No matter what they say to you, keep fighting," Alana Stewart, who filmed Fawcett as she underwent treatment, said last month. NBC estimated the May 15, 2009, broadcast drew nearly 9 million viewers.

Big Sean Big Break
The story how Big Sean took destiny into his own hands is awesome. BLAKstar family you have to chase your dreams. Create opportunities and bust down doors. When someone tells you that you aren't going to make it, you can't make it use that energy to fuel you. You have to believe in you and your ability. Trust me I know sometimes you can feel like you aren't going to make it and people rather tear you down than uplift you. First of all, watch who you surround yourself with! Second of all, write down where you want to go and be and start on a path. Lastly, stay working on your craft whatever it may be.
ALWAYS REACH FOR THE STARS!

NEW MOVIE: Martin Scorsese's Shutter Island
Ok I'm freaked out but I will be checking this movie out!
Is Eminem OBSESSED?
Eminem’s “Bagpipes from Baghdad" recently asked: “Mariah, what ever happened to us, why did we have to break up…Nick Cannon better back the f#?k up. I’m not playing, I want her back, you punk.” Now, Mariah Carey came back with a song titled “Obsessed” from her forthcoming Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel album.
MC sings with Auto-Tune assistance: “You’re delusional, boy, you’re losing your mind.” “It must be weed, it must be the E,” she continues. “Why are you so obsessed with me? Lying that you’re sexing me.” The song continues singing: “Telling the world how much you miss me, but we never were so why you trippin’. You’re a mom & pop, I’m a corporation. I’m a press conference, you’re a conversation.” Ahh man I may have to use that...lol!
Memoirs of a Perfect Angel is set for release on August 25.

Team Guerilla Films presentation entitled “The Traveler” inspired by The Air Yeezy’s. Directed by Samtubia Edwards.
DJ Jazzy Jeff kicked off racist stage?
Apparently, Jeff was instructed by a Power & Light (entertainment) district official to play Top 40 hits. He was several songs into a set of pop records that included songs by Jay-Z, Rihanna and Biz Markie, when his performance was cut short due to an issue with the style of music he was spinning.
"My road manager walked up to me and said they were having problems with the music I was playing," Jeff told the paper. "They said I had to kick Skillz off the stage, change the format of the music I was playing or quit. They said if I continued playing they had 30 cops ready to come escort me offstage. So I stopped."
Jazzy Jeff, who is arguably the world's best party DJ, though he's best known for his affiliation with the Fresh Prince, now known as Will Smith, and for inventing a seminal scratching technique called "transforming," collected the first hip hop Grammy award and spins close to 300 nights a year. This was his first time DJing in Kansas City.
Jon Stephens, an official from the Power & Light district, where the performance took place, contended that the issue was Jeff's volume rather than his selections.
"Obviously we have a desire to book a diversity of acts," Stephens said. "We booked Jazzy Jeff on a Saturday night, the biggest night of the week in the district. We were excited to have him there. It's unfortunate that his sound and management people had problems adhering to the sound and audio rules."
Jeff says they explicitly took issue with music he played and complained about his hype man, Skillz, before threatening to forcibly escort him off stage.
"They said they didn't like Skillz' posture. They said he made gang-like signs and grabbed at his genitals," Jeff stated. "I play rock, funk, soul, pop, hip-hop, reggae. I don't play for a certain genre, race or gender. I play for music lovers... I didn't understand what element they were talking about. I looked out in the crowd and it was multicultural, but about 75 percent white. Everyone was having a great time. I wondered what was so offensive. I never had a race issue. I didn't know how to feel. I was playing [Biz Markie's] 'Just a Friend.' Is that offensive? What element? It's uncomfortable when you feel unwanted."
Jeff stated that he intends to return to Kansas City to play for the fans who missed out on seeing him perform.
